Cameroon is located in Central Africa. It lies along the Biafra Bay. It shares borders with Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, the Congo, Gabon, the Central African Republic, and Chad. Cameroon had a population of 27 million (in 2021) and more than 200 ethnic groups.

The largest cities are Douala, the economic capital, with an estimated population of more than 3.7 million, and Yaoundé, the country’s political capital, which is home to more than 4 million people. The country gained independence in 1960, following the merger of the former French Cameroon and part of British Cameroon. Consequently, the official languages are French and English.
